Sherlock Holmes Paper Deerstalker Hat Template

Borbonesa were commissioned by Portsmouth City Council to create a Deerstalker hat template to celebrate Sherlock Holmes Day on 24 June 2012. The hat needed to be simple enough for primary age children to construct, and appropriately sized to wear. The finished template, three A3 sheets, featured cut out hat parts and illustrated step-by-step instructions. The hat is made using a single split pin to tie up the crown and earflaps. Children were invited to decorate their hats in traditional or contemporary Deerstalker patterns and room was given for children to write about Doyle / Holmes on the flaps, which could be worn up or down, revealing or hiding their writing.

I was lead illustrator for the template sheets creating vector graphic hat parts and illustrating the step by step instructions.
